4. Select four to ten people to interview. They should be people who know the community well, and they should be chosen to reflect the perceptions of a number of segments of the community, particularly of those directly or indirectly affected by the issue.
5. Contact the people you have identified and see if they would be willing to discuss the issue. Each interview should take 30-60 minutes.
6. Conduct your interviews. Avoid discussion with interviewees, but ask for clarification when needed and use prompts as designated. Record or write responses as they are given. Try not to add your own interpretation or to second guess what the interviewee meant.
